Minerva Edu Donates Entire Proceeds from Flea Market to Yangsan Childcare Center

On June 25, Gimhae-based edtech company Minerva Edu (CEO Chu Cheol-min) hosted a flea market event and donated all proceeds to the Yangsan Childcare Center.

The company organized this donation event to promote child welfare and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs). In addition to Gimhae, they operate a STEAM education center in Yangsan that teaches creativity development, robot coding, and robotics using LEGO.

On July 7, CEO Chu Cheol-min and Yangsan City Council member Kim Ji-won visited the Yangsan Childcare Center, where Chu presented the full proceeds from the "2nd Minerva Edu Marketplace" held at the Yangsan Future Design Convergence Center.

This event was co-hosted by the Gyeongnam Cultural and Arts Promotion Agency and the Meta Contents Campus Association (MCCA), with Minerva Edu as the organizer.

Previously, Minerva Edu held its first marketplace in February and donated all proceeds to Bangjuwon in Gimhae.

The marketplace featured local youth participating as vendors, selling various items, such as toys and crafts they no longer use or have made themselves, at affordable prices to residents.

The total revenue generated from the sales and voluntary donations was collected from around 10 youth vendors and over 70 visitors. Minerva Edu also prepared school supplies for the children to be delivered alongside the proceeds.

During the donation ceremony, Council member Kim Ji-won encouraged the childcare staff and listened to their concerns about areas needing repair and operational difficulties, promising to take action at the council level.

The Yangsan Childcare Center, established in 1945 by the late Kim Sam-geun, has been run by three generations and serves as a home for 36 children who need to be separated due to the loss of parents or abuse, supporting their proper growth.

Kim Ji-won expressed, "I apologize for not being able to monitor the only childcare facility in Yangsan closely. I will work swiftly to secure funds for renovating the aging educational space, and I promise to maintain regular contact to ensure the children grow into excellent adults in a good environment."

CEO Chu Cheol-min also stated, "The flea market and donation event are aimed at instilling an entrepreneurial spirit in the children who sold items and promoting a culture of giving in the community. I hope this donation helps the operation of the Yangsan Childcare Center, and we will strive to be a model company that continually engages in flea markets and events promoting communication and coexistence in the community."

Minerva Edu is an edtech company that enhances youth team project capabilities through creative education, robot, software, and AI lectures, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) education, project-based learning (PBL), and competition organization.

Additionally, they focus on expanding their business and activities with "Kkurum-e," an online collaboration tool that supports team project activities.
