Minerva Edu, an edtech company in Gimhae, has donated the proceeds from a flea market to a local childcare facility.
On May 25, Minerva Edu held the "2nd Minerva Edu Marketplace" at the Yangsan Future Design Convergence Center, donating over 300,000 won to the Yangsan Childcare Center.
The event was co-hosted by the Gyeongnam Cultural and Arts Promotion Agency and the Meta Contents Campus Association (MCCA), with Minerva Edu as the organizer.
At this flea market, local youth participated as vendors, selling various items such as unused toys and handmade crafts at affordable prices to residents.
The proceeds from the flea market were donated to the Yangsan Childcare Center, the only facility of its kind in Yangsan.
Established in 1945 by the late Kim Sam-geun, the facility has been operated for three generations, providing a safe haven for children who have lost their parents or need separation due to abuse.
Currently, there are 36 children utilizing the center.
In addition to the proceeds, Minerva Edu also provided school supplies for the children at the childcare center.
CEO Chu Cheol-min expressed, "We aim to instill an entrepreneurial spirit in the children who sold items and to promote a culture of giving and sharing in the community. We hope this donation will assist the operation of the Yangsan Childcare Center and that we can lead in practicing sustainable development goals."
Minerva Edu focuses on enhancing youth project skills through creative education, robotics, software, AI courses, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) integration, Project-Based Learning (PBL) education, and hosting competitions.
