To foster talent in the software (SW) and digital sectors, Minerva Edu has successfully created over 20 new "SW Instructors" through its recently completed program. The edtech company, based in Gimhae, conducted a free "Robotics, Coding, and Software Instructor Training Program" from July 24 to August 18 at the Jin-Young Harmony Town auditorium.
Organized by Gimhae City and the Gimhae Bioindustry Promotion Agency, this program aimed to establish a foundation for supplying skilled personnel for the SW convergence industry, build and expand the SW industry ecosystem, and provide local residents with diverse knowledge and experiences related to the field.
Twenty-five residents of Gimhae, including career-interrupted women and job seekers, participated in the program. The training covered various SW-related topics such as block coding, robotics, drones, physical computing, and artificial intelligence.
Despite running for about a month, with sessions held every Monday to Thursday morning, all participants completed the training without any dropouts, achieving a remarkable attendance rate of 90%. As a result, all attendees earned their "Robotics Coding Instructor" certification, which opens doors for them to teach robotics and coding classes.
Some participants, having formed strong bonds during the training, have also organized informal groups for continued networking, information sharing, and further educational activities.
One participant from Jin-Young expressed, “It was great to attend valuable training so close to home. Each class felt too short as I learned so much about the future society. If there are more related courses in the future, I would definitely want to attend. I hope more future educ ation opportunities across various fields, not just robotics and SW, become available in Jin-Young.”
Choo Cheol-min, CEO of Minerva Edu, stated, “To establish future education in the region and create a healthy ecosystem, we need many instructors capable of providing education. I hope those who completed the program will teach in various local areas, fostering a beneficial cycle. We will continue to lead future education by implementing diverse programs aimed at addressing educational disparities, creating jobs, and nurturing talent.”
Minerva Edu is a global edtech company focused on enhancing youth teamwork skills through creative education, robotics, software, AI courses, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) integration, project-based learning (PBL) training, certification courses, and competition hosting. They are expanding their services with "Kkurum-e," an online collaboration tool designed to assist team project activities.
